Children's Ministry Revamp!
One of the things you may have noticed, is that there are a lot of kids at Legend. Not just the adults who act like kids, but actual, bonafide children. Gaggles of them. As we've moved into our new partnership with EPC and sharing the building space with them, with MEAC, with AA, and with other community partners, one of the ongoing places we've had to be creative is in how to best teach our kids how to worship Jesus, especially on Sunday mornings.
Starting on Sunday, March 9th, we're going to be re-imagining our Children's Ministry space and we're so excited. All of our kids, grades K-6, are going to start Sunday mornings in McCord Hall. We're going to use some of our portable walls, to create a space for our kids to worship together. Volunteers have agreed to take their talents and skills and go lead our kids through a worship set that's energetic, engaging and fun, and really appropriate for kids, and their maturity level.
After that, our kids are going to break into age-group based classes, with the K-2 kids in the back hallway classroom, and the 3-4 graders and 5-6 graders in some created classrooms in McCord Hall. Our youngest kids will still be in the nursery area, as they have been.
There will be a ton of new processes that go along with this - kids will sign in in McCord Hall, rather than the hallway (or, parents, using our fancy new app!), and we'll need parents to come sign kids out after services, rather than just letting kids run. It'll mean some re-arranging of our coffee and donut space and time. And, it'll make the time that our volunteers spend with the kids that much more fruitful and fun, we think, as the kids move in and out of small group and large group time.
This is a vision Cara has had for a long time in Children's Ministry, and we're super excited about it, and all that it will mean for our kids and helping them to grow. We've always wanted to do way more than childcare - we've always wanted our kids to know Jesus, and that he loves them, and to know that his church loves them, too.
If you have any questions, please reach out to Cara, or Jason and Justin. And, as always, we still need fresh faces to love and serve kids back there. If you'd like to volunteer, we have a space for you!
